Data from the European Energy Exchange (EEX) showed that the EU auctioned 3.245 million spot carbon emission allowances on Thursday at a price of €71.18 per ton.
This price is lower than the prices in the German and Polish auctions last week.
Specifically, the German carbon allowance auction on August 22nd fetched €72.1 per ton, while the Polish price on August 20th was €70.5 per ton.
The overall EU auction price fell by nearly €1 compared to the German auction price.
While the coverage ratio for this EU auction was not released, the coverage ratios for the German and Polish auctions last week were 1.62 and 1.66, respectively.
Fluctuations in EU carbon prices reflect shifting market supply and demand dynamics and may also be influenced by the macroeconomic environment and policy expectations.
