Introduction
Luoyang Petrochemical, situated on the northern bank of the Yellow River approximately 30 kilometers northeast of Luoyang City, is adjacent to the Xiaolangdi Hydroelectric Project. It connects to National Highway 207 and the Er-Guang Expressway to the east and borders the Jiaozhi Railway to the west. As a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec Group), it is a mega-scale integrated petrochemical enterprise encompassing oil refining, chemical production, and synthetic fiber manufacturing.Approved during China’s Fifth Five-Year Plan period as a 5-million-ton-per-year fuel-oriented refinery, Luoyang Petrochemical commenced construction in late 1977. It began partial operations in 1984 and was fully completed and approved by the national acceptance inspection in 1993.The complex currently operates over 20 large-scale petrochemical production units, along with corresponding auxiliary systems and supporting facilities. It has an annual processing capacity of 8 million tons of crude oil through atmospheric and vacuum distillation, 1.5 million tons through crude flash distillation, 325,000 tons of PTA, 200,000 tons of polyester, 200,000 tons of polyester fiber, and 90,000 tons of polypropylene. Key products include gasoline, diesel, aviation kerosene, liquefied petroleum gas, petroleum coke, asphalt, polyester, polyester filament and staple fiber, polypropylene, and dozens of other petrochemical derivatives.
