On November 25, 2025, Australian biotechnology company Samsara Eco and the European Outdoor Group (EOG) jointly launched the “Nylon Materials Collective”. The initiative aims to provide more outdoor brands with access to high-performance, high-quality recycled nylon that rivals virgin material, and to accelerate the industry's transition to a truly circular textile future.
The “Nylon Materials Collective” will bring together outdoor brands, supply chain partners, and leading materials companies to jointly remove key barriers hindering the adoption of recycled materials, which is crucial for achieving a more sustainable and circular future. The “Nylon Materials Collective” is open to all members of the European Outdoor Group (EOG).
Nylon is a common material for outdoor brands, which prioritize high performance, durability, strength, and toughness to withstand the harshest outdoor environments.
By consolidating demand, member brands of the “Nylon Materials Collective” will gain access to recycled nylon materials through centralized sourcing and have the opportunity to collaborate with leading supply chain partners, thereby reducing logistical complexity and accelerating the promotion and application of recycled materials.
Sarah Cook, Chief Commercial Officer of Samsara Eco, stated: “Outdoor brands have an inherent reverence for the planet. We are committed to helping more brands access our materials, bringing the circular economy to the entire industry. The Nylon Materials Collective will enable outdoor brands of all sizes – whether those with smaller material needs or brands that typically purchase fabrics – to more easily and seamlessly integrate recycled nylon that rivals virgin quality into their future product lines.”
Samsara Eco's enzymatic recycling technology, EosEco, can produce recycled materials, including Nylon 6,6, with quality comparable to virgin material. This allows brands to confidently use recycled materials to consistently produce durable products that consumers know and love. The technology also helps brands better meet upcoming regulatory requirements in the EU's Circular Economy Act, such as extended producer responsibility and minimum recycled content.
As an authoritative representative of the European outdoor industry, the European Outdoor Group (EOG) is committed to building a platform that consolidates the industry's collective influence and demand, creating an efficient pathway for brands to access Samsara Eco's recycled nylon.
Dr. Katy Stevens, Head of Sustainability and CSR at the European Outdoor Group, said: "Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. The Nylon Materials Collective provides members with an opportunity to work with innovators like Samsara Eco to unlock recycled nylon resources and accelerate the industry's shift towards circular materials. By pooling demand and expertise, we are helping brands of all sizes more easily incorporate high-performance recycled materials into their product ranges, taking tangible steps towards a more sustainable outdoor industry."
For the European Outdoor Group (EOG), which represents approximately 150 brands, retailers, associations, and other organizations across the value chain, this cooperation is an important practice in realizing its vision of "promoting an industry that gives back more than it takes." For Samsara Eco, this cooperation marks a significant step in its mission to "make circular materials the first choice for brands," proving that durability, performance, and sustainability can coexist.
