February 23, 2026 - Avient's Dyneema® brand, through its collaboration with Spanish armor manufacturer Fábrica Española de Confecciones (FECSA), has achieved a significant milestone with the successful delivery of over 100,000 protective vests and 100,000 ballistic inserts to European armed forces and law enforcement agencies. This achievement highlights the critical role of Dyneema® unidirectional (UD) materials in providing exceptional protection for both hard and soft armor applications.

In reaching this milestone, Dyneema® and FECSA have met the stringent technical requirements of Europe's elite military and law enforcement units—standards designed to ensure the highest levels of quality and performance in modern ballistic systems. These specifications demand products with exceptional ballistic resistance, ultra-lightweight construction, slim profile vests and inserts, and gender-specific designs to ensure optimal fit, comfort, and mobility for frontline personnel. FECSA utilizes Dyneema® advanced high-performance ballistic materials to manufacture protective armor meeting these rigorous standards.

Dyneema® manufactures high-strength fibers and unidirectional (UD) materials that enhance the ballistic capabilities of protective armor. Furthermore, the exceptional strength-to-weight ratio of Dyneema® materials enables armor manufacturers to design ballistic helmets, inserts, shields, soft ballistic vests, and armored vehicles that are lighter than those using other protection solutions. Innovation across three generations of ballistic-grade unidirectional (UD) materials underscores the company's commitment to safeguarding the safety and comfort of those who protect national and societal security.

Marcelo van de Kamp, Global Business Director for Personal Protection at Avient's Dyneema® division, stated: "We are proud to partner with FECSA and to have supplied the key technology for over 200,000 protective vests and ballistic inserts. This milestone demonstrates the power of collaboration with armor manufacturers who share our commitment to exceptional performance. Through our Dyneema® unidirectional (UD) materials, we are helping to provide European defense personnel with protective armor that meets, and even exceeds, the most demanding standards."

As the only ballistic materials manufacturer producing both its own fiber and unidirectional (UD) materials at dual production sites in Europe and the United States, the Dyneema® brand offers global partners a stable supply chain and consistent performance. The origin of protective armor is critical, with localized production helping ensure consistent quality and reinforcing the trust of customers who rely on demanding standards.
