Medical-Grade TPUMedical Device MaterialsSelf-Lubricating Technology

January 27, 2026 - ICP DAS-BMP, a Taiwan-based manufacturer and supplier of medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), announced its participation in "WHX Dubai 2026" (formerly known as Arab Health) to fully present its medical-grade TPU materials and key R&D series. The exhibition will be held from February 9th to 12th at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The on-site display will feature two innovative TPU series developed for critical needs in medical device manufacturing: the Low-Extractable series and the Self-Lubricating series.

The Arothane™ ARP-B20 Low-Extractable TPU complies with ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards and is suitable for implant applications of up to 90 days. This series minimizes additive extraction during processing, helping catheters maintain a smooth surface throughout their shelf life. Furthermore, it offers multiple color-matching options to meet the flexible customization design needs of medical device manufacturers.

Another highlight exhibit is the Self-Lubricating TPU series. The material possesses a self-lubricating surface, eliminating the need for additional coatings or post-processing. This series is entirely made of TPU, contains no PFAS or plasticizers, and provides reliable long-term stability without surface or additive extraction. Its advantages include low-friction characteristics, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring smooth pushability, such as nasogastric tubes with built-in guidewires, while maintaining safety and performance during storage and use.

To meet various medical application needs, ICP DAS-BMP will also exhibit its full range of TPU materials. The ARP, ALP, and ALC series are suitable for manufacturing medical devices classified according to ISO 10993-1 human body contact duration, including Short-term (Limited, less than 24 hours), Medium/Long-term (Prolonged, 24 hours to 30 days), and Long-term (Long-term, over 30 days). For radiopaque applications, the ARP-B20 and ALC-B40 grades (having passed 90-day implantation tests) and the ARP-W & ARP-WG series (with tungsten content up to 40–60%) can enhance the visibility of invasive or implantable medical devices. The rigid engineering-grade Arothane™ EARP series, known for its clarity and strength, is an ideal material for manufacturing orthodontic device components, luer connectors, and other precision medical devices.

Through its comprehensive TPU material R&D achievements, ICP DAS-BMP demonstrates its continuous commitment and capability in advancing safer, more reliable, and diversified solutions, assisting medical device manufacturers in addressing evolving healthcare demands.
