November 30, 2025 – In a significant breakthrough for the Middle East's technological landscape, Saudi Aramco, a world-leading integrated energy and chemicals company, and Pasqal, a global leader in neutral-atom quantum computing, have successfully deployed Saudi Arabia's first quantum computer. This also marks the first quantum computer in the region dedicated specifically to industrial applications.
The quantum computer, developed by Pasqal utilizing neutral-atom technology, is now deployed at Saudi Aramco's data center in Dhahran. This represents a critical step in building quantum technology expertise within Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East, accelerating the development of quantum applications in energy, materials, and industry.
This initiative aligns with Saudi Aramco's strategy of leveraging advanced digital technologies to enhance operational efficiency, accelerate the pace of innovation, and create long-term value. It also reflects Pasqal's mission to deliver practical, implementable quantum solutions for strategic industries worldwide.
Ahmad A. Al-Khowaiter, Executive Vice President of Technology & Innovation at Saudi Aramco, stated: "As a technology leader, Saudi Aramco continuously innovates and delivers tangible benefits through the development and deployment of advanced digital solutions. We are applying technologies like artificial intelligence at scale to further optimize operations, enhance efficiency, and unlock business value. Our partnership with Pasqal is a natural extension, and we are excited to be among the first to explore next-generation quantum capabilities, seizing the significant opportunities presented by this new frontier of computing."
Loïc Henriet, CEO of Pasqal, said: "This is a historic milestone in our collaboration with Saudi Aramco. The successful deployment of our most powerful quantum computer to date makes history and lays a significant foundation for the quantum future of the Middle East. Pasqal continues to expand, delivering tangible and usable quantum computing power to industry."
Saudi Aramco's venture capital arm, Wa'ed Ventures, first invested in Pasqal in January 2023, becoming one of its early strategic investors. Since then, Wa'ed Ventures has actively supported Pasqal in localizing its technology and operations in Saudi Arabia, helping the company establish a strong presence and promoting the development of the regional quantum ecosystem.
The deployed Pasqal system can control 200 qubits, arranged in a programmable two-dimensional array, providing a platform for exploring advanced quantum algorithms and practical applications relevant to industrial operations.
As part of the collaboration, Pasqal will also provide training programs and joint research opportunities for Saudi engineers and scientists, further strengthening the Saudi quantum ecosystem and supporting the development of high-tech talent.
