Sinopec Wuhan Company (referred to as Wuhan Company) and Sinopec Asset Management Co., Ltd. Wuhan Branch (referred to as Wuhan Assets Branch) are collectively known as Wuhan Petrochemical, a large industrial enterprise directly under Sinopec Group. Its predecessor, Wuhan Petrochemical Works, was established in 1971 and began production in 1977. The refining operations of Wuhan Petrochemical are located in Qingshan District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, covering an area of 239 hectares. It borders the Yangtze River to the north, offering extremely convenient water and land transportation. The 800,000 tons/year ethylene project (under construction) is situated in Bajifu, Jianshe Township, Hongshan District, covering 294.8 hectares. Wuhan Company currently has a primary crude oil processing capacity of 8.5 million tons/year and an integrated supporting capacity of 6.5 million tons/year, with 28 production units. Its main products include 25 types such as gasoline, kerosene for lamps, No. 3 jet fuel, light diesel oil, naphtha, solvent oil, alkylbenzene feedstock, naphthenic acid, MTBE, specialized heavy oil, fuel oil, industrial flake sulfur, petroleum coke, polypropylene resin, "three benzenes", and liquefied petroleum gas. These products are marketed across 12 provinces and regions including Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, and Chongqing. Currently, Wuhan Petrochemical is fully advancing the construction of the 800,000 tons/year ethylene and 8 million tons/year oil product upgrading and refining transformation projects. Upon completion and operation of these two major projects in the first half of 2013, Wuhan Petrochemical will join the ranks of large-scale integrated refining and chemical enterprises with a capacity of tens of millions of tons. By the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", the comprehensive refining capacity is expected to reach 10 million tons/year, and ethylene production capacity is projected to reach 1 million tons/year.
